Pupils at Whitehouse Primary School are creating a mock building site as they continue their education on construction, thanks to a donation of materials such as bricks and safety equipment by Milton Keynes based housing developer, Taylor Wimpey South Midlands.

Whitehouse Primary School has held a Construction Club after school programme for pupils who have an early interest in construction and building. It encouraged children to replicate the development of Whitehouse and give them an early interest in construction and building. Some of the activities have included using bricks, sand, high-vis jackets and hard hats to make structures and experience parts of a construction job on the mock Taylor Wimpey building site.

Linda Kelly, Headteacher at Whitehouse Primary School was thankful for Taylor Wimpey’s contribution. She said: “This term, some children in Foundation and Key Stage 1 have enjoyed their Construction topic. We wanted to provide them with an experience on a building site and as we are currently unable to visit an active site, Taylor Wimpey delivered us the next best thing and brought the experience to the children.”

Fiona Lloyd, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey South Midlands, said: “I think it’s really important that children recognise the value and importance of construction from an early age and it’s great to see the children showing a keen interest and having fun with the topic. We’re delighted to have been able to donate building materials and safety equipment to Whitehouse Primary School and give something back to the local community.”
