MyMiltonKeynes lights up the city centre with sparkle!

Wednesday 27 November 2019

On Saturday (16 November) over 3,500 people welcomed in the festive season at the annual Milton Keynes city centre Christmas Light Switch On, organised by MyMiltonKeynes.

Comedy favourite Joe Pasquale, star of Aladdin at Milton Keynes Theatre, was joined by Father Christmas and the Mayor of Milton Keynes to perform the official honours – lighting up the city centre, right along Midsummer Boulevard from Station Square up to Campbell Park. A spectacular musical laser and pyrotechnic show lit up the night sky to mark the occasion.

This year sees over 70,000 brand-new LED lights wrapping trees along Midsummer Boulevard, alongside giant parcels, with three magnificent Kings lit on the roof of Christ the Cornerstone Church, two huge trees in Exchange Square, and an enormous walk-through parcel located in Station Square.

Saturday’s free event saw a mix of live entertainment from local talent; Romeo Dance Academy, Dancebox Studios and carols from school children accompanied by the Salvation Army brass band.

Plus, there are still chances to win £1000’s worth of prizes, by joining this year’s MyChristmas campaign and sharing your Christmas moments in Milton Keynes on social channels using #MyChristmasMK.

The Christmas lights and switch on event was organised by MyMiltonKeynes (the Milton Keynes Business Improvement District) along with other key partners across the city centre.
