Thursday 13 January 2022

A man from Milton Keynes has been jailed for burglary and fraud following a Thames Valley Police investigation.

50-year-old Mark Newsome of The Hide, Netherfield, was found unanimously guilty of one count of burglary and three counts of fraud after a three day trial.

He was sentenced to 3 years and 3 months at Aylesbury Crown Court last Monday.
At 5:55pm on the 23rd of May last year, Newsome used a stick through a letter box to steal a wallet from a property in New Bradwell, specifically Thomson Street.

Bank cards from the wallet were then fraudulently used in various locations.
Newsome was identified when the victim recognized him as someone he’d met before on CCTV footage.

Detective Inspector James Horseman of MK Police station’s priority crime team spoke of the sentencing in a statement released today, saying: “I hope this sentence sends a strong message to offenders in the community that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated by Thames Valley Police.
“Burglary is a priority crime within the force and I am happy that this offender has been found guilty and justice can be given to the victims.”
