Could MK’s John Lewis be at risk?

Monday 22 February 2021

Milton Keynes’ John Lewis store could be at risk as the company is reportedly considering shutting down several locations.

Following on from the loss of Debenhams, the department store (which first opened in Milton Keynes in 1979) is said to be the latest to suffer the effects of lockdown, with up to 8 stores under consideration to be axed.

The exact locations are yet to be decided and nothing has been officially confirmed, but it would be a devastating blow to an already suffering high street.

This follows on from the closure of eight John Lewis stores last summer, which resulted in 1,300 job losses.
